Serves 4-6

 

450g Bramley apples

zest and juice of 1 medium orange

50g muscovado sugar

175g plain flour

75g butter

75g caster sugar

 

Preheat oven to 200C/Gas 6.

Peel and core apples. Slice into small pieces and place in dish.

Sprinkle over the orange zest and juice and the muscovado sugar.

Set aside while you make the topping.

Sift the flour into a bowl and rub in the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.

Stir in the caster sugar.

Scatter the topping over the apples and press down around the edges to seal in the juices.

Bake for around 30 minutes until the crumble topping is golden.
